Hi everyone!

In July 2012, Lindsey's Channel Swim campaign will hope to raise funds for two charities:

HYT (Haileybury Youth Trust) www.haileyburyyouthtrust.com

and

Aschiana (help for street children in Kabul)  http://www.friendsofaschiana.org.uk/

The Channel crossing is approximately 21 miles in a straight line, but often swimmers are dragged by tides which in the past have extended swims to 30 miles.

The expected water temperature of the sea in July is 15 degrees centigrade.

The Channel Swimming Association rules are that a swimmer must enter the water from the English shoreline wearing only a single thickness standard swimming costume, hat, goggles and grease!  The swimmer must not be in any physical contact with any person or object during the swim and must walk (or crawl) onto the shoreline in France for the swim to be verified.
